Re: 6 Volt Deep Cycle Batteries

"From my understanding one 12 volt AGM battery must be better than two x 6 volt Flooded batteries." Yes, but two 6 volt AGM batteries are essentially the same as one 12 volt AGM battery. It is often easier to fit (and handle) 2x6v rather than 1x12v, though. "One concern I have is the...

Re: Degradation of AGM Battery Capacity

All batteries lose capacity with time and AGM batteries are no exception. Expect to lose about 5% per annum. With a nightly drawdown of just 15%, your batteries will die of old age long before they wear out. It is the norm to have a low overhead discharge current powering pilot lights, appliances on...

Re: 6 Volt Deep Cycle Batteries

Daza, what is the battery for? Starting? House? Golf cart? Wheelchair? Do you really want/need a true Deep Cycle battery?

A point to ponder. If the guarantee on a "Deep Cycle" battery specifies an average discharge of only 20%, is it really a Deep Cycle battery?

Re: Voltage Sensitive Relay

Just one very minor point - when you say "When vehicle battery is "full" it transfers charge to house battery." you are repeating a very commonly held misconception. Once the motor starts it takes only seconds for the VSR to engage and start charging both batteries - regardless o...

Re: Voltage Sensitive Relay

A VSR only goes one way so that whenever the engine is running, the Starter and the House batteries are connected in parallel, charging both batteries. A Dual VSR (DVSR) goes both ways, connecting the batteries in parallel whenever the engine is running or the solar charging has got the House batter...

Circuit diagram proviso.

Footnote to the circuit diagram from Page 3 of this post :- https://s11.postimg.org/f8me84avn/Marks.jpg Simultaneously sharing the solar input as shown above requires that the solar controller is of the usual "common Negative" type. If you connect a "common Positive" controller l...

Re: Which is best.

Standard Monocrystaline panels range up to 24% efficiency. The higher the efficiency, the higher the price. Standard Polycrystaline panels range up to 20% efficiency. The higher the efficiency, the higher the price. Most of the readily available solar panels are around 17% efficient with the larger ...
