Webasto water heaters

Webasto water heaters

Postby mobilehouseoffun » Wed Aug 26, 2009 4:38 pm

Hi Has anyone had any trouble with the webasto company, We installed a new diesel air heater, diesel cook top and diesel water heater in March this year, the hot water heater has played up 3 times, each time they have repaired it and each time it does the same thing and will not start, we have asked for a new heater as feel that there is a fault with this one, webasto are not interested in doing anything about it and there level of service after you buy some thing off them is hopeless. we live in the bus full time. Can anyone recommend another company that sells these products and has customer service. Thanks Mark P

Mark, one suggestion would be is to get onto the CMCA forum website in Australia and ask a few questions there as I would presume that there are alot more people in Australia than here who have installed that Webasto combination. They may have some sugggestions for you or a contact name within the Webasto Comapny there. We had the Webasto diesel air heater in Australia and no problems. The password for the forum is in the latest NZMCA magazine, once you are into the website you need to register to ask a question. Good luck :)

Hi, Thank you , we have registered on there site, but we have been dealing with aust as the NZ outfit are only a distributor. talked to rodger in australia tonight and he does not believe they have to follow the consumers guarantee act as he is in australia. we seem to be getting no where so now wish to get rid of webesco gear and find a company that will be happy to sell us there products and look after us if there are any problems. But I suspect the NZ distributor has to.

We are trying but the Mike the NZ agent just refers us to Aust, He has tryed hard to sort it out but still keeps breaking down and Rodger in Aust has to approve a new one or money back. very frustrating and costing a lot of time and energy. Mark

I'm not sure how much money is involved, but it seems that you could take him (the NZ distributor) to the Disputes Tribunal. I think the upper limit is $5000 and it costs (I think) less than $50 to take a claim.

Have a look here: http://www.justice.govt.nz/disputes/home.asp

Since you (and not a lawyer) represent yourself, it's important that you follow the proper NZ Consumer Guarantees Act procedures in dealing with the dispute.

You can read about those here: http://www.consumeraffairs.govt.nz/consumerinfo/cga/

You should not have to put up with goods that are not suitable for the purposes for which they were sold (ie not reliable and serviceable).

Good luck.

Thanks Mark, Have them fixing the old one for the 3rd time but will not give us a replacement, They dont believe there is a fault with it, they keep coming up with things at our end that will cause it to break down. First was additive in the fuel, then we had installed it wrong (there guy installed it), then we had blocked air flow etc. So we will end up with a water heater but they will not reinburse us for any costs. The australian chap we have been put onto is very abrupt to say the least. All up the cost was $10500 for all the gear, Hot water cylinder, heat pump, hot water heater, cook top. We are very happy with there gear , its there service when things go wrong that is very poor, No returning of phone calls etc.
thank you for your help and you have set up a great forum, Mark P

Hello

Can you give me an update on your Webasto Water Heater please.
Considering putting some Webasto gear in our new MH, particularly the Dualtop combined heater / water heater. Need to find someone who has used one for a report.

What model was it you had? I have read your previous posts so anything written so far is noted.

Thanks
